Are there any convenience foods for R&Y's?
I nearly cringe when I read the posts about processing food to eat. I can almost see the dishes piling up in my sink.
I'm not a cooking and cleaning kinda woman.
Have you found any convenience foods that fit with the dietary guidelines? What do you do when you're invited out to eat? I haven't had my consult with a dietician yet.
Thanks!

Hi Sue, Don't worry. With the way society is today, there are all kinds of things you can eat. The nutritionist will help with suggestions. In the first couple of months it is a little harder. Once the pouch heals eating gets easier. Eating out is not a problem. I eat soup and chicken and salad with meat and all kinds of things in restaurants. It all works. Best of luck on your journey.

I had an RNY 3 weeks ago today. After surgery I was on pureed foods for two (very long) weeks. A lot of people rely on protein shakes during this period, but I couldn't tolerate them very well. I lived on mashed potatoes, refried beans, low fat yogurt and pureed canned soups. I added Unjury unflavored whey protein powder to each of these to get my protein in. Once you're on soft foods (and looking at these boards, there are a lot of differences on how long this will take -- based on your doctor), you'll be able to have small amounts of almost anything. Your dietician will probably help you a lot with this too. The first person I call when I have questions or trouble is my dietician. Good luck!
