Support groups in Columbus

Does anybody know if there are any support groups in Columbus? I would like to go if there are.

Hi Heather, Barix has 2 support groups, one that meets in Gahanna and the other in Groveport. I also heard that OSU has support groups that are open to all. Let me know if you want any details about the Barix groups meetings. Janet M Open RNY 8/19/04 -12#

Hi! I'm going through the bariatric program at OSU and have attended 2 support group meetings so far. They have 1 the first Thursday of each month (free) for people looking into wls. Then they have 1 the first Wed of each month for those pre-wls and up to 6-mths post op (costs $5) and lastly, they have 1 the 3rd Wed of each month for those 6+ mths post op (costs $5). All of these support groups are open to anyone interested. Hope that helps! Pam

Hi Pam! Are you going to the next one? I will be there! Thanks for the input about OSU. We have a great support system for Bariatric patients. And the best thing is you don't have to be a patient of OSU's to go!! They are giving away the Medgem at this next one...ohohoh I hope I win. They didn't incorporate that when I went through and I would have loved to see the difference between then and now. Congrats on you appt with Dr. Needleman. I think the OSU support groups are helpful, too. I didn't go to the last one (I was having surgery that day!), but I plan on attending the next. Even though I'm a lapband patient, I think it is helpful to hear the speakers (I liked the guy from Denison) and to hear the advice of other people. The surgeries are different, but many of the trials and tribulations of weight loss aren't.

Hi Heather, The Barix meeting that I attend is the first Wed. of the month at the Library right in front of Barix Clinic there on Hamilton Rd. it begins at 7:00 p.m. There's another one in Gahanna, but I don't know anything about where or what times they meet. Hope this helps. Ruth in Ohio
