Question of the day
I can go anywhere and FIT in a chair, an airplane seat, a restaurant booth! It is wonderful. I can also shop 'till I drop. Used to be I'd do everything I could to avoid a shopping date with girlfriends. Now I jump at the chance. Oh - and shopping for clothes and shoes - love to do it now!! Down 86 pounds and only 89 more to goal! Donna
Hi gang,
Well, one major thing that I have found since surgery is that I am feeling better then I have in a couple years. I was to the point before surgery that I didn't want to go anywhere, or see anyone, or talk to anyone other then a select couple friends and family.
Just the other day, my husband told me about a party that a guy at work was going to have this month. And I said "ohh that sounds like FUN". He later told me he was surprised that I didn't say I don't want to go. (which would have been the case 2 months ago)
I find I am no longer sleeping my days away. I've been getting up and going to therapy (water) spending a couple hours in the water. Come home get lunch for hubby and myself. (he works second shift). I just keep busy doing something (like enjoying the sunshine) instead of laying down. However I have also found that I am very tired and ready for bed like by 8pm... lol
I also sing with 3 other gals. Christain Music. We finally got back together to practice last week. It had been 14 months since we last sang together. We had a great time !!
Other little things... easier to wipe.. seat built fits better... I fit better behind the steering wheel....ohhhh and one other that makes me smile.. is My hubby opened the refrig after I had been shopping, and he said "It's all good stuff in here" (meaning where was his goodies) ha
Life is good... getting better by the day !!!
Keep the questions going there Debbie !!
Have a great week everyone !!
Cindy
There are so many things I can do now after losing 106 lbs. that I couldn't do before. Let's see...cross my legs at the knee, sit in a restaurant booth, sit in a theater seat confortably, polish my toenails, go up and down stairs without huffing and puffing, walking across the room with no pain, take care of personal needs (you know what I mean), looking for the smaller sizes instead of the largest size, etc.
The best part of it is that I like myself again. I was miserable the way I was a year ago, and I can't tell you how good I feel now. It's a miracle.
Love this question -- its good for us to focus on the blessings of this surgery instead of the day to day hassles and pains. I can cross my legs, fit in an airplane seat, not dread every episode of exercise, buy clothes in stores other than Lane Bryant etc., see myself in a mirror without cringing, wear fitted tops, tuck in my shirts, wear shorts in public, wear my clothes after they've been the dryer, wear dresses without stockings and not have thigh rub! And I'm not even to goal yet!
Well were do I start...since I am pre-op I have had soooo many little things that smaller people would never think of being important. You have all said alot of them but let me add....being able to cross my arms in front of me without them resting on my belly...not having to use a half a bottle of suntan lotion each time I tan....no more stress incontinence!!!!!!......not sweating just walking across a room....actually saying I'm cold in the winter.....not thinking about what I will eat next meal while eating one at the time.....i could go on and on but you'd get bored with me but to sum it all up TO LIVE LIFE NORMALLY!!!!! BARB
I'm less than 48 hours away from surgery now! My surgery is at OSU on Friday at 7am! (Thanks everyone for suggestions on what to take to the hospital, and also all the good wishes and wonderful words of wisdom that you've been sending my way!)
There are lots of things that come to mind, but two especially. The first is taking a bath, since I gave this up a couple of years ago and really miss them for relaxation. One of the most important though for me is knowing that my knees and feet won't hurt as much and that I'll have a lot more energy. For all of my adult life I have just loved going to the North Carolina shore, staying at a beach house, walking the beach, collecting shells, etc etc. Last year, we went to NC after almost 5 years away. Instead of being the wonderful trip I expected, it was quite depressing because it made me realize I how limited my life had become --unable to easily take the stairs down to the shore and back up to the house, unable to walk more than 10 minutes along the beach, things like that. It made me incredibly sad, and I have vowed that next year we will go again and I am so happy to know that I'll have my mobility, and a lot more energy, and really be able to enjoy it again!
