Greetings all! I had my surgery in Appleton Wisconsin a month ago today. I moved to Columbus in early July, expecting to find a surgeon/bariatric primary care provider for my post-op care. I've tried OSU and they were really bad at returning phone calls, and after a week of phone tag their three surgeons didn't want anymore post-op patients. I tried Barix, but they too were horrible at getting back to me. So I'm driving back to Appleton on Monday (14 hour round-trip) for my one month checkup. I would prefer to find a family doctor who is experienced working with RnY patients, and responsive. On a secondary note... Are there any gastric bypass support groups in East Columbus, or anywhere around Columbus for that matter? If it weren't for OH, I'd be in the dark about everything Thanks in advance for any help/guidance! Joseph

Hi Joseph, I'm going through the Barix in Groveport, so I really can't help with the dr. question, maybe you could ask the one your going to for your checkup if they have anyone you could contact. Here are 2 support groups that I know of around Columbus one is in Gahanna and is ran by David Harma the phone # 837-9900 it meets the 2nd Thursday of the month from 7-9pm at 425 S. Hamilton Rd at the Shephard Church of the Nazarene. The other is in Groveport, right in front of the Barix at 3980 S. Hamilton Rd. at the Metro Library there it is ran by Ann Wong 833-6873, and meets the 1st Wednesday of the month from 7-8:30pm. Hope this helps. Connie

There are two support groups, One is in Gahanna they meet I think its the first thursday of the month, and One at the library near the Barix Clinic, and I think they meet the first wednesday of the mont. I am not sure of the dates though. I have the information printed, but it is at work so I will email it to you later. As for a family doctor, I see Dr Hua (pronounced wa) at the family physcians of Gahanna. I do know that there has been several patients at the Doctors office that have had the WLS. I know that at the doctors office they are really great about getting you in without a terrible wait. Also if you doctor is on vacation then you can see any of the several doctors there. Dr hua is highly recommended. The number is 614-471-9654. He is really good about giving out samples of prescriptions so you wont have to pay the co-pays. I will email you with the support group info soon. I plan to attend in Aug for the first time, so hopefully I will see you there. Lisa Johnson.
