Hi Tommie. I had my lap rny on 3-10-04 and had my drainage tube in for eight days after the surgery. I did not find it uncomfortable, but it was a hassel with showering after I got home. I had no pain when it came out, but it did feel weird (almost like a tickle in my abdomen) when he pulled it out. I know all surgeons do things differently, but I hope this helps. Patti
Hi Tommie,
I had my open RNY on June 29, 2004 and didn't have a drain tube at all.
My doctor is wonderful. He is in Springfield Ohio, his name is Dr. Ronald Spier.
I am really doing well not having had a drain tube. I have lost 27 pounds so far and I feel that is absolutely great.
Good luck with your surgery and hope things go well for you.
