Ok all you wonderful supporters and well-wishers. Grab my hand, and just keep squeezing! (Don't be afreaid of breaking anything, I'm numb and would never know the difference.) This has been a long hard battle, but at last it has happened. August 9th is the big day. Thanks to all of you who have listened to my tale of woe and encouraged me to hang in there. Since I decided to "give up the fight" and go self pay, my only regret is not doing it sooner. But I guess it's gonna come soon enough.

I am so happy for you! I hope your insurance is paying for your diagnostic testing (?) and you just have to pay for the surgery. I looked at what the sleep study costs and I nearly fell over...My date is the day after you. I will be thinking of you. Alice

Congrats on your date! I understand wishing you had made the decision sooner. I think most bariatric patients think that. I am sorry to hear that your insurance company won't pick up the bill. I really feel that if the powers that be in this country want a healthier America, they should stop insurance companies from making the surgery a direct exclusion. Think of how much money the health insurance companies would save in the long run on Rxs, increasing health problems, etc. Fortunately, when I made my decision to have the surgery, my company was holding the annual benefit elections. I was able to switch to another carrier at that time and get my surgery approved. Keep your chin up and remember that it's all worth it in the end. I'm in my fifth month post-op and I've lost 76lbs and still losing. Manda [email protected]
