Original Post by Kelly Digby at 2:16 PM PST on 07/10/2004 Maumee, OH 12 weeks out-50 lbs. I know that is good don't get me wrong, but....I have not lost one ounce for 4 weeks. I don;t mind the 3 miles a day walking but doggone it I want to see some results. I am stuck at 50 pounds, please tell me this is not the end of the line for me, I have 80 pounds more to go!!! Not that I look too bad if I do say so myself!!! Anyone have any good advice for me? I am still not able to eat a lot at a time, I still get terrible stomach aches with some foods and not others. If I eat three times a day I'm doing good The only "bread" I can eat is a bite at a time of W/Wheat bread. Can't eat even a half of a sandwich at a time yet. Sometimes I can eat turkey sometimes I can't sometimes I can eat pork sometimes I can't.

i went thru a plateau of sorts at about that time- your body is evening out and getting adjusted to where it is at...maybe mix up your exercise routine and watch how many carbs are going in...not being able to eat bread should not be a problem...sorry- don't mean to lecture but- did you do meausrements? how are you coming along in that way? sometime sthe scale doesn't move but the inches do! do you get your water in? any protein supplements?bars or shakes? have you gone in for your 3 month checkup or do you go soon? i emailed you with a question as well.... amos hugs, margo

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat and if you are building a bit of muscle during your walks and throughout the day doing differant thing you won't see any thing on the scale. I would mix up your walk routine a bit add maybe some toning ropes or a ball work out if you haven't tried those they are fun but better if you can do a class I have all the stuff for both but it just isn't the same doing it in your living room as it is in a class with others. I think you are just at a platue and it will change. rynae

I would either up your supplements or start them. Sounds like first of all you may not be eating enough. How many calories a day are you getting? I would not worry about bread at all. You don't need it. Protein first then water then carbs. Are you losing inches. Sometimes people lose inches instead of lbs because of the reasons other posters have mentioned. You have gotten some great advice from other people. No it isn't over yet.

I just got off of a plateau too - three weeks. Then presto-chango, down 4 pounds almost over night. It was my first plateau --- I am 5 months post-op and down about 80 lbs. Have noticed the scale is slowing down but know that I am doing all of the right things. Hang in there.

Hi Kelly, I live in Maumee too. I have been eating proteins almost exclusively since my lap rny on 3-10-04 and have lost 107 lbs. I occasionally have 2-3 wheat saltines with my tuna, but otherwise no carbs at all other than what is in my vitamin supplements. I hope this helps, it has worked for me. I had lost about 50 pounds the first two months also. I am still unable to walk or exercise due to a preexisting knee problem, but am getting around better with my cane. You can call me for support if you wish. Email me if you want my phone number at [email protected]. Good luck--don't give up. Patti
