NEW SUPPORT GROUP...HARRISON, OHIO
Hi Jeannie - Happy to see you are getting your support group up and running. I just spent 3 days at Christ. Collapsed in my kitchen Tues afternoon (I had been feeling great!) woke up vomiting - called dr A's office and my daughter in law drove me into Christ. I was admitted for low potassium and dehydration. Good level is 3.5 - mine was 2.2.
I'm doing better - was discharged at 5:30 last night but don't want to do that again. Even though I was getting my 64 oz of fluid, I was still having some vomiting in the mornings/evenings and was losing potassium along with my fluids. So - just a word of caution - if you have a bout with nausea/vomiting, make sure to ask to be scheduled for a potassium check!
The stay in hospital was not bad - I was on 6 South (telemetry sp?)
so they could monitor my heart - set off the alarms once during an episode of vomiting and had to have another echocardiogram.
I'm home now - a nurse will be here this afternoon to check my heart, etc. Just hope this is the end of my "troubles" and I can get back on the road to good health. I gained 13 pounds (probably fluid from all the IVs while there) and hope that they come right back off.
Good luck with your support group. Donna
