Got a date!!!!!! But.......

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that I got a date for my surgery, it is June 24, 2004 (next Thursday!!!!!!). I was so excited. But then of course something smacked me down again. The nurse informed me that I have to have $2000.00 by surgery day. $1500.00 for the doctor's office, and $500.00 to the hospital. On Monday when I called to schedule my pre-op appt for this Friday, I specifically asked how much I would have to have down seeing as my insurance has a cap and no longer will cover after July 1, 2004. Their reply was $110.00 on the day of the consult and the rest can be made in payments. Now what kind of crap is that????? I don't have that kind of money. To tell you how desperate I am, I emailed my mother (whom I haven't spoken to in years). This is desperation alright, I just don't know what to do. I just feel like everytime something goes right, I get slapped in the face again. Any suggestions, let me know. I'm sure I have tried everything out there but you never know. It doesn't hurt to ask. It seems as if this is just not going to happen for me and I am meant to deal with this way of living for the rest of my life. It just doesn't seem fair. Thanks for listening. Traci

Hi Traci........ I am very happy to hear you beat your insurance deadline. Can you call the doctor back and ask if you can make payments to him? Alot of hospitals now take monthly payment plans also. I would call both and see what hapens. I don't know your financial situation, but do you have a credit card you could get a money advance on? Or maybe get a short term loan somewhere? I know the interest would probably be outrageous but if you want the surgery don't give up till you exhaust all avenues. And i would call back and ask why they said 110.00 and now it is suddenly 1500....Big difference....But i sure would beg them to make financial arrangement with you.
