Good evening everyone. I have been lurking and reading the posts here for while and enjoying all the information and advice. Everyone is so friendly! I live in Canton. I will be four months post op on 06/17/04. I have lost 65 lbs. so far! I am doing beautifully with no complications. I had my surgery at BTC, now known as Barix in Columbus. My surgeon is Dr. Stelmack, whom I just have the utmost respect and admiration. I was completely pleased with all the staff at the center and eternally grateful for the wonderful kindness and care I received....Now for my problem: I know that hair loss was part of this whole package but I am still upset at the amount of hair I am losing. I have dark hair (from a bottle..lol). It's shorter on top and just touches the top of my shoulders. I know that the large weight loss and anesthesia have contributed to the hair loss but it still is frustrating and dismaying. Does anyone have any suggestions? I take in 66 gms of protein every day with just the supplements. That's not counting the other protein thru the day from meat, eggs, cheese, etc... If anyone has had any success with other methods please let me know! I hope to post here more often in the future and I have been lax about my profile..lol...which I plan on updating soon. Thanks for any help! Andrea

Hi Andrea, The hair thing is a little scary! People will tell you they try all kinds of things...but it seems to me that it pretty much runs it course. I am now 1 year post op. Sound like we have similar hair. I am 48, my hair was already kind of thin...and like yours, dark(from a bottle). So I was a little freaked out for awhile. Things are pretty much back to normal now. I did get it cut differently and that helped the appearance. Hang in there!

Hi Jennifer. Thanks for the reply! I am 48 also and we do sound like we have the same hair. However, I had real nice wave and some curl too. Since the surgery it's gone straight and my hair girl tells me this is from the anesthesia....sigh...all those high school years I dreamed of straight hair and now that I've got it I want my waves back...lol..go figure. I guess I'll just be patient and wait it out...I had fairly thick hair but fine...where did you have your surgery? Andrea

Good Morning Andrea; I work at Barix clinics, we usuually instruct patients to try B-Complex vitamins and Zinc, this usually helps with hair loss. Since you are a patient, you should call and speak with one of our dieticians. They deal with that kind of question every day... It does get better, I promise. Take Care
