My PCP's office just called. They have been trying to get me an appointment for a psyc. consult. (requirement of Dr Barbara at Barix) Since I know my insurance will not cover my consult OR surgery, it is all out of pocket. Only 2 out of a list of 75 psychologists/psychiatrists would even consider seeing me... (closest appt in LATE August) The LOWEST fee for a consult was $695.00!! WOW! I am feeling like I will NEVER meet the requirements for the WLS. My Hubby suggested maybe we look elsewhare for a surgeon/WLS clinic...

How far are you from Springfield, Ohio ? I am self-pay .. and have found out that I can finance the whole operation through one of the Hospitals here, and it will cost between $15,000 -$18,000 .. if you were willing to pay for Barix, then this should be well below your budget. My Doc .. whom I haven't met yet ... insists on a 4 year follow-up with you .. and because of that does not charge for any aftercare appointments at all ... I could not find a better recommended doctor in all of Ohio .. so I am stoked. If your interested .. his name is Dr. Spier ... keep in mind I have not met him as yet ... this is all coming out of my enthusiasm.. Meaghan

Good Morning Deb... Are you willing to travel to Columbus? There is a Counseling Service in Columbus that does the MMPI eval, the cost is approx. $125, "Have Faith Christian Counseling" 614-361-5100, But always keep your options open for other facilities, there are a lot of good doctors out there. Good Luck... Take Care

Hi Deb, I live in Northeastern Ohio and went to the County Mental Health clinic for my eval. Everything was based on isurance or income level. I had an appt within 3 weeks and my insurance covered it all. If i had not had insurance it would have cost me $40. Barix wanted me to use one of the doctors they recommended and yes, they were really expensive and did not want to accept my isurance...so I found my own. Maybe there is a clinic near you. Good luck.......Patty
