Dr. Custer leaving - YES

I received a letter yesterday stating that, indeed, Dr. Custer was leaving Mid-Ohio Surgical. The letter states he is going to Lancaster Surgical Associates.

I had heard last year while I was preparing for my surgery that the hospital in Lancaster was going to be starting a bariatric program. Keep in mind though that River View Surgery Center (where the Lancaster Surgical Associates offices are located) are affiliated with Mt. Carmel. Perhaps he will still have priviledges at Mt. Carmel??? The last I knew, River View does not have in-patient facilities - they are strictly out-patient.

Ok you have my attention now... I have heard so much about BTC that I was wanting to check out other options also. I cannot do to much right now as I have a new job and they cover the surgery but I have not been there long enough for it to be in effect yet. I dont want to start to much till it gets into effect so that they cant say that I was doing it prior and then wont cover it. But what is this I hear about a Dr coming to Lancaster? I live in Logan and that would be so much closer. But after seeing my daughter go through this in Feb I could not imagine it being done out patient.

Beverly, One of your previous replys stated that they had heard close to a year ago about Dr Custer may leaving Mid Ohio Surgical. I HAD NOT HEARD THIS. I had my wls done on May 10 at Mt Carmel W and couldn't be happier with the care I received from Dr. Custer. I then went for my follow up appt to take drain out and Dr was happy with my progress and I left with a 6 week appt in hand, not with Dr Custer and at the East side office. The receptionist did mention he was not going to be there, but not that he wasn't coming back. Dr Custer himself did not peep a word about him leaving Mid Ohio. I figured he had a trip planned, he went to Africa earlier in the year, so I didn't question it. Now the next day in the mail I receive the notice that Dr Custer will be going to Lancaster Surg. I have not been on the board since the 1st of May as my computer crashed and burned, I sure wished I had known this before my follow up appt. I don't think the office handled this appropriately and they expect me to keep my promise to come back to there offices. I am going to ask Kathy, his asst, (whom I do think a lot of) and make sure she is staying with Mid Ohio Surg or is she going with Dr Custer. And I also will be calling and finding out if Dr Custer will take me at Lancaster Surg, I did not do ALL my research and put my heart and soul into someone else's hands to be dropped like a hot potato. This dr has all my trust and confidence that I can give to anyone, I am not about to lose a dr that I think so much of. Do you think him and/or the office staff should have said something to me at my follow up appt? I just cannot get over this!! Thanks for letting me ramble! Hugs & prayers Deb H
