anyone use OH Voc Rehab?

Hey Everyone, I had my first meeting yesterday with the Vocational Rehab Service to try and get some funding for my surgery. I have seen several people post who have gotten assistance from this agency (although I can't remember from what state), and now I need some help from you. The lady I spoke with said this is a totally new area for her, that she has never had (or heard of) anyone asking for aid for WLS. She was very nice, and appeared eager to help, and told me if I could get any verification that the OHIO Voc Rehab Service has assisited with this in the past, it would be very helpful to have that information before she went forward with my application. Have any of you out there gotten assistance from this agency? I would sure be greatful if you'd let me know, either here, or by emailing me. Thanks so much, La

Hi, I like in Athens, Ohio, about 1 1/2 SE of Columbus. I had Medicaid cover my WLS. However, after surgery I needed went to VR about getting help with another condition I have. Out of curiousity from seeing people mention it on this site, I asked my VR counselor if they had ever covered WLS. He said they had a couple people come in with that as part of thier plan, but that they never followed through....as in VR was considering it but the individual is the one who stopped the process. He didn't say for what reason, but for anyone who thinks there are hoops to jump in getting insurance approval...it's nothing compared to getting assistance from a public agency. Lots of paperwork, documentation, follow-up, and I'm sure you would still have to find a surgeon and get all the other testing. Thanks Sara, The lady *****ccommended I try the VR was from Missouri, and said that "other than taking some time (I think it took her 2 months, big whoop, lol) it was a breeze." I know better than to think it'll be a breeze, that is just not my MO. My company has a WLS exclusion, and better folk than I have tried to fight it and lost, so that is a lost cause. I am seeking every avenue possible before I mortgage the house, and sell my first born, lol. Congrats on your success, and good luck to you too!

I'm trying to get compression garments for my legs. I was told VR would get them if Medicaid wouldn't but I had to try to get Medicaid to cover them first. Well, I called and Medicaid said I justed needed to get prior authorization for them to consider covering them. So I had to find a place that sold the garments and would work with Medicaid. In my small town that isn't easy. I need the garments to be custom measured which my physical therapist can do, but it's a supplier who can bill Medicaid. So I finally found a pharmacy that said they have worked with Medicaid before, so I got my doctors to write very descriptive prescriptions for them, and went. Well the lady was nice but when she saw I needed custom fit, she said they weren't able to do the custom ones, I asked if she could just order them with the measurements my PT took, but she said the supplier they dealt with only does standard garments. She called a place in another city that she knew did customs but they no longer work with Medicaid because it was reimbursing enough. So I get a maybe from Medicaid but can't find anyone who can even TRY to order the garments for me. So I called VR and explained I can't get an official denial from Medicaid because no one will even ask for me. He said to get him prices and he will see what he can do. Thank goodness!
