My former dr. has always told me to keep doing what I am doing (otc diet pills and exercise and weight loss groups) and he never prescribed any diet plan for me... will the insurance company be ok with my personal documented diet history? Or do I have to be 'supervised' by my new doctor? Faith

Every insurance is different.I have Cigna PPO and had to go to my PCP once a month for 6 months to weigh in. All he did was chat about weight loss with me and NOTE on my chart how things were going. My weight went up and down and I ended up on the GAINING side but was approved by Cigna PPO (surg 5/12/04). For Cigna I needed a 2nd supervised diets and they accepted Jenny Craig from 3 years ago(I had weekly documentation )for 1 of those diets..Good Luck...call your insurance and find out EXACTLY what is required!!!!
