I need psych eval information for a friend

Greetings all, I have a good friend that is trying to get approved through Medicaid. When she had her first visit with her surgeon, the coordinator told her she didn't need her psych eval right away, that it could be put off. Well, the surgeon's office just called her and told her they wouldn't send her request to Medicaid until the psych eval. (she saw the Dr. a month ago.) So, here's the question...anyone know of a Psychologist who will do the psych eval and has reasonable prices??? The Psychologists suggested by the surgeons office charge $400 for the eval and I thought that was a bit steep. I'd appreciate any information. She's in a snit to get this taken care of. Also, has anyone here gotten approval from Medicaid, or whatever the assistance program in Ohio is? Thanks!! Julie Lap RNY 2-23-04 down 42 pounds!

I live in Ohio also. WHen i had to get my psych (sp?) done i went to our county Mental Health Clinic and told them what i needed. I know in COlumbiana county they take medicaid. I have insurance from at work and only had to pay my co-pay as it was based on my income since i had insurance. Tell your friend to call around. There has to be a county mental health center in the vicinity somewhere. Just tell them you need to have an eval done for weight loss surgery. Good Luck.
