Has anyone ever been sent home from the sleep apnea study because they couldn't fall asleep? Well, I was tonight...And I'm so upset with myself!

hi, Jan I am sorry to hear about your sleep study .Did they reschedule you?I was supose to have one in2002 but they told me I couldn't take any medication to help me sleep so i never went because I can't fall asleep without it.

Well, they WANT me to take a sleeping pill next time..I don't know what that will proove because I don't use them and I don't think that will reflect an accurate sleep pattern...but what do I know...I don't think I need this test, and am afraid I'll have to pay for it, and St. Vincent's wont do the surgery without it..catch 22! Thanks though for your imput!

I suggest you do what they want. My insurance MM Super Med+ paid the bulk of the sleep test at St. V's.

It will relax you enough to put you to sleep. When I had mine I felt like I slept like a log. They said I woke up 57 times in an hour. Take the pill and relax and enjoy it. Good Luck.

It seems as though we are at the mercy of the insurance company's.However ,I take medication to help me sleep and I still wake up gasping and choking for air.So I think if you truly have a apnea problem whether you take meds or not it should show up.Just a suggetion maybe you could call your insurance and see if it is a covered item.Good luck!
