hi everyone, i was wondering if someone could tell me how long it will it take from the first consultation until the surgery. I know that it mostly depends on insurance but I was just wanting an estimate. I have medical mutual. The secratary at svch said it would take about 3 months... but the lady at the seminar said anywhere from2-*6 weeks. What has your experience been? Thanks AMy

Amy, I went to the info seminar in late Jan last year. Had my consult w/Dr Patterson in Mid Feb...was approved on April 7th(i think) and had surgery may 5! Part of the delay was on my part gtting PCP letter etc sent in to the office. I think it also depends on how busy the Dr is you are going with as well. If your having LAP it may take longer as i THINK Dr B is the only 1 that does that! Good luck. Just have allyour ducks in a row and even more info than they are asking for if possible and you will be fine!

Hello Amy, I am having my surgery through St Vincent's. I saw the surgeon for my consultation on January 28th and my surgery date is April 23rd. Most of the time in between was waiting and going for various clearances (psych eval, cardiac clearance, etc). My insurance approved me in just 2 days. Actually the process has been moving very fast. Good Luck ROGER

Amy, I went to the seminar on Oct. 28, 2002. I had my consultation on Nov. 4. I had everything with me to get everthing moving fast. I did have to have a psycological evaluation done. I did that in Dec. My paper work finally went out in late Jan. 2003. I was approved in earily Feb. Once the ins. co. got my paper work they approved me in 4 days. I worked closly with my ins. co. which is Medical Mutual Super Med Plus. They were great! I got my surgery date for March 11. I was bumped up to March 5. Dr. Linda Patterson was my doctor. She is great! They are really slow at getting the paper work out. They need more people helping with it. But, make sure you keep calling or emailing to see what's going on with your file. I'm curious also, if you don't mine me asking? Do you know what you might have to pay out of pocket? When I had my surgery I had to pay $200.00 office visit for them to do the paper work. Then $400.00 for my co-pay. Which I got back $79.00 a few months later. It's really strange! I've never receive one bill about the surgery or the hospital. It's a great Insurance Company!! Good Luck to you, Sherry Ravenna, Oh -135 lbs/20 to go! [email protected]

I went to the same seminar as Roger, on 1/28 I had my consultation 2/13 and my paperwork was sent to MMOH Supermed plus on 3/9. They told me not to call MMOH or my Admin Assistant for 4 weeks, but I did call MMOH yesterday to make sure they recieved my file and to see if they need anymore info. I was told that it was in for physician review - seems to be on schedule. I did have all test, pysch and cardio, done before it was sent. I do not have sleeping problems but was checked on 3/3 anyhow. Another suggestion - get copies of all your test results and keep them in case your admin asssistant doesn't recieve or in case MMOH looses them and asks for them again. I also added a personal letter and photos - wasn't required but thought it might help. Good Luck
