Need PCP.

I do not have a PCP that I have seen recently. (5 years) Can anyone refer a PCP that is in the Grove City or West Columbus area that is pro WLS and accepting new patients?

I don't know any in Columbus, but if you're interested in one in Lucasville I know that Terry Johnson at SOMC Family Practice has referred a patient for WLS. I used to see Dr. Bonzo and Dr. Umheiffer (same office) in Portsmouth and they refered me and got my approval from Medicaid.

I see a great one in Chillicothe. Her name is Kristine McCallum, she's with Family Healthcare, Inc. She's been absolutely fantastic about supporting me before and after surgery and has a few patients who've had surgery, so she's well informed. I'll give you her number if you'd like. ~Jessi

If you want to travel to Johnstown, try Dr. Vargo. He is awesome and will try and help you anyway possible. Also there is Dr. Zachowski in Pataskala and he is good as well. I can give you both numbers if you like. Lori

I was so tired of doctors who were obnoxious, ignored or where not supportive regarding my weight and weight loss attempts. I found a wonderful doctor by looking at the member lists at the two bariatric physician webb sites; asbp.org and asbs.org. The members are broken down by state. Most of the members are regular internists or general practioners. Good Luck.

Thanks for the responses. I am familiar with the Columbus area and just recently moved to Southern Ohio. So, the Lucasville, Portsmouth and Chillicothe info. will be a good start for me. Thanks again!

My family dr. is E. Legg in Lithopolis (southwest of Columbus). He is very pro WLS and has several patients that he has referred (including me) and he is very involved in their follow-up care. I would highly recommend him. His practice is part of Tri-County Family Physicians.
