OSU Bariatric Program

Hi all, I was just wondering what OSU's response time is. I called and had all the paperwork sent to me, I filled it out and returned it but have still not heard anything from them. It's been about 2 weeks now. I guess I'm anxious now because it took me so long to finally make the decision (about 2 years) that I just want to get it done and overwith and start my new life. I tried BTC, but they didn't take my insurance there. I would like to stay in the Columbus area, but if I don't hear something soon I may start looking in Cleveland or Cincinnati.

I sent my information in May, but didn't have pre-authorization from Medicaid until August. Saw OSU nutritionist September 23...had my blood taken that day and my psych eval in October (2 visits), received a letter in mid November saying I was accepted as a patient. Was able to take my nutrition classes at my local hospital in December. Since I had pre-auth I ask the RN if I could schedule my surgeon consult before finishing my classes...i.e. call and make the appointment before I completed the classes but the appointment would occur after completion. My appointment was Jan. 23, 2003 and my surgery was scheduled that day for February 10th. I developed an infection that morning so I had to postpone it until April. That's how it worked for me, I have seen others with longer waits...some with shorter. My doctor was Dr. Cook...his schedule might be fuller or lighter than Needleman's or Melvin's. Best wishes, Sarah
