CALLED BY BARIATRIC CENTER SOLICITING BUSINESS

Hey all! I'm just beginning my journey investigating and learning about WLS and what would be better for me. AFter just logging on as a member here yesterday, was called today and given the whole spiell, said they were the best bariatric center in the state and had done the most successful surgeries, she asked personal questions, said I would be perfect based on my past/present conditions. This was only after one day!! Then finally, asked what kind of insurance, and she preceded to tell me they don't accept BCBS anymore, gave me the price of the surgery as self pay, I said that wouldn't be an option, she said thank you, good luck, but we can't help you. IS THIS NORMAL? TO BE APPROACHED FOR BUSINESS? Just checkin....I was kind of put off by that. Thanks

Sandy I've never been approached by anyone, before I had my surgery. Put I think that there are more and more surgeons doing the surgery now, so there is more competiton for patients. Many people insurance companies are not paying for the surgery, and I truly believe that they are looking for cash customers for there business. Many doctors have to settle for what ever the isurance company pays them, as with a cash customer, they set there fees. The only way for them not to find your real name, is to use a name not traceable thru google or any other search engine. Good luck with your weight loss journey. Sharon, Thanks for the reply! It DOES make sense that they would rather have cash because they have to have it up front and then you make pmnts to your loan source. Oh well, it was good to know. Sincerely Sandy

That is odd to me. I've never been called by anyone. Although it would be nice to be called by a PS that accepts my insurance so I don't have to search for one, lol. :D

I never got a phone call but I did receive a brochure from them in the mail. But I'm not sure if they got my info from here or if they targeted LB, Roman, Catherine customers.

Sandy yes you will probably get calls from Liv Lite also and there is one other one, that I cant rememeber their name now, and maybe a few more, I got emails from a lot of places, one from Mexico even! It was good research for me to check out the different sites and talk to people. Just do your homework, and decide what is best for you. I did get some good videos from a few places and nice brochures, but ultimately I am choosing a place closer to where I live. Good Luck

Sandy, I did have the BTC call me and ask me questions. I sent away for info from BTC and put info in at this website. They did not except my insurance either. From my own personal findings BTC has alot of problems. I know of 4 people who went to BTC and had a terrible recovery time. One lady had too much of her intestines removed and may have to a feeding tube for life. I went through OSU and had Dr, Needleman who was wonderful. I was pain free the next day after sugery and I never had to take any type of pain medication. OSU is the way to go in my opinion! Karie -54 lbs DOS 12/12/03

I too was contacted by several different surgical centers after registering for this site. I was contacted by phone by three different places and recieved two brochures in the mail. TH

Sandy, I wish I would have been contacted by different places for wls. I want all the info I can get for the right decision. I am, as it stands now, going to the BTC in Groveport (Columbus) for mine. I liked Dr. Vig., and the staff I meet were good. He told me to sit back and relax while they take care of the insurance. That is what I am doing. I like their rate of 1/700 also. Don't leave any roc****urned in your quest. By the way I saw their ad on TV and called them. Good Luck. MaryAnn
