Dr. Custer and CHAMPVA
Has anyone used Dr. Custer in Columbus, OH and has anyone used CHAMPVA as there insurance company? I have my first appointment with Dr. Custer in May. Also, I have three months documented diet with Weigh****chers from last summer and three months on the phen phen diet from 1997, do you think this will meet the six month documented diet requirement or does it all have to be consecutive? I've tried many other diets but these are the only documented diets. Maybe I should take all the nutrition and diet books I've bought with me?!
Thanks, I'm new and have many questions.
Tracy
There are many here that are patients of Dr. Custer. You can check out his and Dr Price's patient forum for others. Email me if you have some specific questions.
Dr. Custer won't be concerned with you diet attempts as much as your insurance company will be. Talk with Carrie and ask her what they need. You should also be able to get the requirements from your insurance company as well.
Overall, I am very pleased with Dr Custer. Some his assistants and office staff is another story. But again, it's the sugeon's skill that counts in the end.
Be sure to attend the monthly support group meetings on the 1st Monday of the month, 6:30pm. They've moved to a new location last month. The meeting is now in the Mt Carmel West Medical Staff bldg in the first floor auditorium.
Thanks for the information Bob but I found out today that I have to pay 25% of the total costs of surgery and any pre op stuff. I can't afford that. But that's ok because I can go to the VA facility in Kentucky and have it done with no out of pocket expenses so I will be going there. I'm just thankful that I still have an option.
