I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!!!!

I was scheduled for surgery on February 12, 2004. Today I was suppose to be at the hospital for preadmission testing. An unbelievable and horrible situation happen to me. My husband's work changed his insurance without informing us. We now have Cigna. I did have Anthem. I also must change my doctor because he doesn't contract to Cigna. That also means I must have open instead of lap. I couldn't talk about this for a couple of days. I have been so upset. My family said maybe it was just wasn't meant to be. But I don't want to hear that. So, onward I go!! Good Luck to everyone!!!! Margaret

That sucks!! Why are you so against open? Mine was open and really wasn't that bad. I was on pain meds for 11 days, shopping the next weekend, and walking down the block with my kids about a week later. I hope you start feeling better about it. If you have any questions, please ask!! ~Jessi

Open or Lap will give you the same result n that is what counts. But if your employer did that, it may be illegal. I am sorry you are going to have to start process over though. That sucks. Does CIUGNA have an exclusion. Get that book and start checking.

I would check a little deeper into the insurance because you had no chioce and the comp. changed insurances they should have to pick up where the other left off. My husbands changed at the first of the year and because it was the company's choice not ours to change they have to cover my pre-existing conditions. so your surgery may fall under a pre existing policy. Our old insurance did not cover me to have GBP surgery but this one goes on a patient to patient basis so I may have a beter chance. I would check more. and as for open or lap I have had friend who have had both and one was no differant then the other except for a bigger scar. rynae

Thanks all for your support. My doctor's office is going to send all my information to Cigna. Please say a prayer for me. I will take the surgery any way I can. I was concerned about the recovery time. My gallbladder was removed by lap and I was feeling better in two weeks. Jess, you sound like you did really well. Open is not so bad. I had surgery on Saturday and on Tuesday was out sight-seeing the entire day with my sister-in-law and husband. I took one pain pill on Monday night the day I was releasd from the hospital and that is the last time. My incision was 9 1/2" long. I am only 15 days out today and I went back to work full time. If you WANT to feel good, then you WILL. Pam
