Revision Surgery

Hello Everyone, I have a co-worker who had the stomach stapling procedure about 9 years ago at OSU hospital in Columbus. Needless to say, she got pregnant 3 months after the procedure and has since gained back all but 50 lbs. She is interested in the RNY gastric bypass surgery but has not found anyone who would perform it because of her prior surgery. Does anyone know of a surgeon in the Columbus area who would perform the second surgery? Here is my background info. I had the open RNY gastric bypass surgery on 07/09/03 at Holzer in Gallipolis, OH. I weighed 329 lbs and am down to 228 lbs which is a loss of 101 lbs in 5 months. I have inspired my husband to have the open RNY gastric bypass surgery. Since I am doing so well and he has more serious health issues, he decided totally on his own to have the surgery . He is going to have surgery this Thursday 12/18/03 at Holzer in Gallipolis, OH. I don't know about Ohio, but theres a great surgeon in Neenah Wisc. at Theda Clark Hospital that does. Dr. Raymond Georgen.

Tami, Has it been determined that your friend has had a staple line disruption from her original surgery? Also do you know what kind of procedure she had? Just as a suggestion, if your friend is considering another prodcedure make sure that it is someone that is experienced with revisions, even if it means she has to travel a little. There are two doctors that I have researched that have excellent reputations, and do revisions; Dr. Ronald Spier in Springfield OH and Dr. John Maguire in Kettering OH. Hope this helps.
