Hello everyone! I feel kinda stupid posting this but, I went to the plastic surgeon yesterday he says I have a hernia need a tt and a breast lift which I knew about the tt and lift that is why I went but, he also informed me my insurance has an exculsion on tt and any cosmetic sugery now I knew they did on gastric bypass I just got really lucky and got approved before they quit paying for it. I am just so depressed I need a tummy tuck bad I never knew this would bother me so much my stomach is gross! And my breast's have gone south and they aren't coming back!! I just am feeling hopeless he is gonna try filing with my secondary insurance but, I called them they don't have a exculsion on it but, they say it has to be deemed medically necessary. I don't know I just feel hopeless. I want the total picture is that bad of me? I mean I feel great about my loss I am at my goal I am healthy I should just count my blessings but, I want this skin goneeeeeee. Ok I feel better ty all for listening! Hugs!

Hi Mary I haven't had the surgery done, yet, but I lost 107 lbs when I was 21 y/o. Even at that age, my chest was like flat pancakes. I was so ashamed. But, you must feel better physically. There is one thing that always comes to mind when I get disappointed---When god closes doors, he opens windows---so hang tight. Things just might come around, who knows. Take a breath, wait awhile, brush yourself off, then go at it from a different angle. Good Luck Marti

Not having had surgery yet I have not had to deal with the excess skin. However, I read from someone either on this board or the hospital board (the hospital where I'm having surgery has a board for its patients) that when she had to have a hernia repair she had a TT along with it and it was covered. I think it would be worth investigating! Ask your insurance company about the hernia repair and how much they allow for that surgery, maybe your doctor can role everything into one bill. It can't hurt! Good luck.

Hey Mary, you got an out. Start docuenting that back pain and rashes. Get the letters going. This is reconstructive surgery and not cosmetic. Subit it to both. I am seeing one on 12-1 even though I probably will not be approved because it is too early. I have some excellent Yahoo groups dealing with surgery also. It is not hopeless for you. One of the tricks is to stop thinking of this as cosmetic and start thinking of it as reconstructive.

Mary: Don't let this get you down. Appeal any denial. Most insurance companies will count on you not and just going away. Get your doctor to document the problems that it is causing you physically and mentally. Never give up, never give up, and oh yeah, never give up!
