Anybody had the DS procedure done?

The ABS web site says there's an offensive body odor. Is that really true?

I have read that it is your stools and any flatulence that gives off offensive odor. But that's enough to make me think twice about having it done this way.

Like the previous poster stated, I believe there is a gas issue, however, I'm here to tell you, there is one with RNY also if you eat the wrong foods. Even the cat runs away.

I know that years and years ago, by sister had the intestinal bypass done-where she only had like 8 inches of her intestines-and boy oh boy, did she have horrible gas. It even hurt her!!! It also caused tremendous diarrhea too. But surely, times have changed. Marti

I had the DS surgery 4/3/03..... your BM's do smell worse but it depends on the food you eat, and you learn fast what to avoid - same stuff that causes gas in everyone else, lots of carbs, cabbage, beans, etc. There are several products to take to help tho, Beano, Devrom, Gas X. I'm VERY happy with my DS!! Sandy
