Just a question. Do you have a primary carrier like an HMO or something. I am not an authority but I would think you would start with them. If it is the govt. Good Luck. I know people that have been approved. I think it takes awhile.

One more thing. I you go down to the bottom of the page, there is a section that says View older posts. Takes you back a ways. In that section there is a post by Greg Sprague who just had surgery. Now he had his in Dayton but it was through Medicaid. There are other too. Good Luck.

Hi, my name is Denice, I worked with having medicaid for 3 years prior to finding my Doctor. When you find a doctor , (it can be frustrating to find one who accepts medicaid), ask them if they plan on continuing to accept medicaid patients. I have been to 5 diffrent doctors and through the process 4 of them stopped doing the surgeries for medicaid. The reason, Ohio medicaid will approve the surgery, but then they will not pay the Doctor, when surgery is completed. I was cancelled 4 times because of this it is unbelievable, but true. I live in Akron and found Dr. Cleary in Dayton, a 4 hour drive, my date was selected and everything with Dr Cleary, and again I got the call. I was so depressed I didn't know what to do. I do also have Medicare part A so I spoke with the insurance specialist there. She told me that if I would find out if Medicare will pay for my hospital and anesthisologist (sic?), then I could pay cash for the Doctor, . The cost $3000. Sounds like a lot but compared to my brain surgeon not bad. The next hurdle was the money. I could have let my bills go but, my teenage sons and his friends, my adopted children, went out to friends, family, and neighbors and collected $3200 for my surgery. When people say all teenagers are not any good think of these ones . So now I am set for Nov 12. . Good luck, and if you have any questions since I have already been through the hoops and over the hurdles! feel free to e-mail me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~Hugs~~~~~~~~~~Denice Mackey
