Hello all! How are things going with me? Well, my weight loss is "relatively" slow. I had my surgery July 14, and I have "only" lost 37 lbs. Don't get me wrong, I was SO excited 2 days ago when I saw 265 on the scale. The problem is, it seems to takes days and days until I lose a lb or 2. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong, or if I'm excersizing too much, so I am gaining more muscle faster then I'm losing weight, so I'm not seeing the weight loss... You know what I mean? ((Man is this entry long)) Anyways, does anyone else have this problem, or had this problem, and how do you deal with it? Thanks!

A good benchmark on whether or not your weight gain is due to muscle is your measurements. Usually, your weight may may be constant, but you will still lose inches. The only way you can excercise too much is to injure your incisions. I don't think it's possible to walk too much. The other symptom I've heard others talk about is not getting enough protein in your diet will also cause a weight plateau. Once they start eating better, the weight starts coming off again. If you start starving yourself, you body will automatically start reducing calorie consumption which ends up being counterproductive.

If you are losing inches and clothes are fitter, that is a great sign. Remember when exercising fat turns into muscle so you may not lose lbs. I think you're weight loss is awesome and very good. Men do lose faster than women. Just keep doing everything right. Hope to see you at a meeting this Friday, September 12, 2003 at Bethesda Oak in Clifton, Twin Oak Room from 7-9.
