I never EVER thought I would not like to eat. It seems like such a chore and I have very little interest in food and NO appetite. I kind of miss being hungry. I am 2 weeks post-op (RNY 8-12-03). I have lost 27 lbs (my dietician is NOT a happy camper). Any suggestions on making food fun again? Thanks. Amy-Cincinnati OH

I am so bored with food. BUT the food SMELLS drive me crazy. I have been nibbling on little soft cheddar cheese crackers and they calm alot of that. Smooshed liver and onions thrilled me. I had my surgery on 8-4-03. Keep drinking the water and pushing proteins. I had little baby shrimp last week and that settled well. Just remember to chew, chew, chew. Good luck, Sherri

Dear Amy, I completely understand what you are going through. I hated to have to eat 5-6 small meals a day when I was not hungry. My surgery date was 07/09/03. Now that I have more food choices it is getting easier to eat. I still log everything to make sure I am getting all of my protein and water intake. The hunger will return but it will not be as intense. If I go 4 hours without eating, my stomach lets me know. Take Care, Tami Nelsonville, OH

Hi Amy it is me Sandy. It gets easier everyday trust me on this one. I hope you can make our Support Group Meeting at Anderson Mercy Hospital on September 5th at 7PM. We are right down the street from you. Try a lot of variety. Not eating the same thing all the time. Otherwise you will get bored with it. The first 6 weeks is the toughest with having the food restrictions. After that, it is smooth sailing. Call me if you need me. Sandy
