Hello.  I'm having my surgery at St. Vincents too on July 19th with Dr. Ben-Mier.

Hi All,

Had my surgery on 11/22/2010. My surgeon was Dr. Schauer. He did a great job and my stay was short.  Had it on Monday morning went home Weds. morning.  My first few weeks were tough, but now things are pretty much back to normal.

I have lost 50+ lbs in 10 weeks and feel great.  Hang in there, once you hit the 4th week, its better.

Good luck in your approval.  Get in a support group as soon as possible.  I wish I had started in one pre op. It would have really helped me to know what to expect in those first months.

Support groups do make a world of difference! I have attended January and February's meetings at the Cleveland Clinic (2nd Thursday of the month 5:30-7:00 pm). My surgery will be there next week. I've learned so much in that short time and think it will help on the road to recovery.

I had open RnY done by Dr. Sonpal at St. Vincent's. Loved it.

Hello fellow Cleveland peeps...I had my RNY on 4/6/11 at UH. Dr. Saber did my surgery and all went well. I am now home revovering. I would love to find some support groups on the west side since It is a good 45 min to cleveland. Any suggestions ?

I go under the knife in 3 weeks at the Cleveland Clinic... It's been a struggle with a few back office issues dealing with getting the right procedure approved but I am confident with the medical staff.
