Columbus area support groups

Hi, I'm scheduled for surgery on 1/18/11, but I will be having it in Dayton.  I was living there and started this process with a dr. there and have been approved.  I now live in the Columbus area and really want to participate in a support group in this area.  It is unrealistic that I can go to Dayton for regular meetings.  The only groups I have found are sponsored by drs. and say patients only.  Does anyone know of any existing open groups?  I would like to start attending one pre-op.  Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm new to this website and I don't yet have a surgery date, but I'd be interested in joining a Columbus support group.  If there isn't one, how about starting one?

I'm thinking of changing my surgery to Mt. Carmel West and they have patient support groups, but if that doesn't happen, I'd happily start one if there was interest.  Why don't you send me a private message about when and where you're thinking of having surgery?

I'm in Columbus and have two friends who are having surgery. Maybe we could just start a monthly meet up of our own?

Any bariatric surgery center of excellence has a support group. My group meets on the third tuesday of every month (except Dec.) but is for patients only.
Also, Ohio State has a support group as well.

Dr Krammer with OSU Harding Hospital has a support group that meets on the third Wednesday each month at the Center for Wellness.  Anyone can attend.  The group that meets on Tuesdays is just for patients.  Give his office a call for information.

Ohio State Medical Center has 2 meetings per month, one I think is with the psychiatrist.  I'm sure is open to anyone.
