DR. LANE
Hello I wish I knew also, I really got screwed and Im pissed I chose him over Dr. White and now I have to wait to get another surgery date. My surgery was scheduled for April 7th. It had to be something really bad because they said Darcy doesnt work there either. Did you have your surgery scheduled or were you close. Did you find another surgeon? Hey let meknow if you do find out what happened and if I find out I'll tell you. Take care and good luck with your journey!
Dr lane resigned because they wouldnt give him what he needed to run his business safely . thats what I was told in an email from his assistant amy. She will be going to Toledo Hospital in April and trying to see if darcy can get hired there as well. She also said that Dr lane may be at Toledo Hospital as well but It would take a while. I was just waiting for my approval and surgery date, I am so heart broken that I may have to start over.
Hey dont give up, I was very upset and confused not knowing what to do. I cant wait for him to get set up somewhere else, I found Dr. White @ The Toledo Hospital had everything transfered and so far so good I meet the dietician on March 15 and this new Dr. on March 16 then I will get my date, and his assistant said she's gonna try to let me get the same surgery date that I already had with Dr. Lane. Let me know if you want their number they were very nice and understanding. You are so close like me, I dont think you will have to start over, they should be able to pick up where you stopped ok bye

Jamaicanbaby good choice!!!! You will love Dr. White and his staff. To others, give Dr. White a try...I'm sure you will be pleased. He came highly recommended by 2 people who were patients of his; thus I chose him....nothing like the power of a personal testimony.
I just got approved last monday, and then the next monday, someone from Dr. Lane Office said he resigned from Toledo and he wasnt practicing there anymore! So I was all set with my date, and then he VANISHED!. I will not be trying to find him b/c that is unreliable to me. I am trusting my life in your hands and your gonna just UP AND LEAVE!??? no thanks, so i will search on for another dr.
A friend of mine had surgery from there, only saw the man once. She didnt get the whole RNY because of a hernia, the dr. or assisting dr. never came in and told her this, only her family. She never saw him again. When she goes in the office they weight her, say everything is fine, and send her on her way. She doesnt get asked about emotionally, what she is eating, how she is feeling. I think the follow up care is a joke, he mass produces weight loss surgeries and can't follow thru on good after care. I can say I have seen this first hand b/c i was with my friend the whole time she was at the hospital. She was vomiting after her surgery, they never called the doc to get her different medicine, for 2 days she vomited, and she just had the VSG and you cant be vomiting after stomach surgery! I couldnt believe it, her incision for her drain got infected, and she kept telling them there was something wrong and no one did anything about it. She had to share a room at the UTMC and didnt get any sleep b/c the other person had the tv on day and night. I was not impressed!
I had VSG with Dr. Lane on October 14, 2009 and found him to be the most caring, talented physician I had ever met. I searched for 10 years to find a doctor who I felt comfortable enough with to trust my life to. My original surgery date was October 7th. I came to the hospital ready to go but suffering from a sinus infection. Dr. Lane told me that as much as he wanted to do my surgery he was more concerned about my health and that he would not take unneccessary risks. I had no complications. He and his staff were awesome. In my follow-ups I saw numerous members of the team. I always saw a dietician and often saw a medical resident in addition to Dr. Lane or Amy. I believe Dr. Lane is a great doctor who puts the safety of his patients first. It was for this reason that he left UTMC. He is not unreasonable, but when an institution refuses to do what a physician believes is neccessary for the safety of his patients, he has every right (and indeed a responsibility) to take a stand and resign. I understand and empathize with those waiting on surgery, but I felt it was important for another view to be represented. I hope Dr. Lane lands at Toledo Hospital, but I will follow him wherever he goes because he gave me my life back, no, scratch that, he gave me a life I never knew I could have.
