I've been playing phone tag trying to get to talk to Kim ...who I think is the new patient coordinator at Cleveland Clinic. One of the girls on the switchboard said she was a bariatric patient herself and it must be Kim Keys that I want to talk to .  I'm curious is she the person who begins a patent's journey at CLeveland C. Bariatrics? My anticipation is building wondering what will she tell me and then what is the next step. Any ideas? Thanks Kathy

I'm not sure about Kim Keys but you should be able to call the bariatric department and speak to anyone to send you info. When you contact them the first time and tell them you are interested intheir program they will snet you a big packet of information inclusing a long questionnaire regarding you medical history.  Once you fill that out it takes a couple of weeks for them to review it to see if you even qualify for surgery. If you meet the criteria they will then set you up with a date to come to an information seminar. The seminar takes a couple of hours. They will give you another binder of information regarding the different surgeries and everything you can expect. After this seminar they set you up to see a surgeon and have any other labs, tests, etc. that you will need. That's the begining. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I had surgery at The Clinic in March of 2008 so I know the ropes. Hope this helps.

Hi Veronica,
Thanks for your reply. I had bariatric surgery back in 2007 at another facility. Long story short it did not bring me the resutls I had hoped for. I am trying to get into CC for another opinion. I did get the packet that you spoke of and I returned that back in early September. Then I had an insurnace snafu that I had to get approval to go to an out of network provider. Now I have that. I'm just wondering... if you go to CC does everyone get taken through the introductory session even if you've had RNY prior to coming to their clinic?  Then you get to see the surgeon?  Do you remember how long it took to see the surgeon after the information seminar? What tests does CC require of new patients??? My anticipation of getting to CC is mounting.. I hope it happens soon. Thanks again in advance for any info. you're wlling to share. Kathy
