Familiar with Summa Bariatric Center - Akron?????

Hi SAM i am so sorry i forgot  to tell you what surgery. i had bypass RY  and i feel great and i am so satisfied i do have some bad days but i know i am on my way to a better life. we have a support group meeting for everyone why not come so we can meet andyou can meet others this month it will be on the28th at6:30 across the street from the hospital.call330-375-6590 for directions we have a ball if you need any help just e-mail me [email protected] i will meet you.

I'm glad you are feeling good about the surgery afterwards.  I've heard people breaking down and asking themselves, "why did I do that?".  I wrote your number down and the time for the meeting....THANKS MUCH.. If I did come, may I bring my 7year old?  I will not have a sitter for him.  If not, that's ok.

Sorry for the lag in posting. I had surgery w/ Dr Dan on 10/20 and came home on Thursday. The staff was awesome and I had a good hospital stay. The nurses were very attentive and accomodating. I was on 4 due to my cpap. Only thing I did not like was the resp therapists. It seemed like evetytime I was in a good place and sleeping well they would wake me for a breathing treatment. I'm glad I had them, just got annoying.

The pain you have is tolerable and they will keep you as comfortable as possiable. Even now, I can get in and out of my bed at home and make it to the bathroom on 1/2 a vicodin every 4 hours or so.

My blood sugars have dropped to normal levels and I am seeing a change in my body as I lose the weight already. Just like everyone else has said, sip, sip, sip AND move. Also was helpful to have DH stay w/ me the first night. I think it was a comfort thing for me.

Good luck to everyone and I will start a new thread after my f/u appointment on wednesday.

Glad to hear you are doing ok!!!  I would be very interested in reading your posts since you recently had the surgery.  Let me know where you post so that I can keep up.

Hi Sammy.

I am post op RNY with Dr. Z since 6.9.09.  I did alot of research on surgeons and have found him to be very experienced and qualified.  I know he seems very light hearted in the office, but once I entered that surgery room, I heard him on the phone setting up things for me and another patient and he was VERY thorough and serious.  I feel very comfortable putting my life in his hands (or at least as comfortable as anyone could).  He put me at ease and gave me so much reassurance that I would be very well with this process.  At the same time as my RNY, I also had my gallbladder out and a hernia repaired.... don't be surprised, it's not that uncommon to do all at the same time if needed.

I also spent time with Dr. Wells.  He is terrific and a strong Christian man.  He treated my weight loss holistically and often times dealt with emotional issues/concerns that were going on in my life.  I really have alot of respect for him.

My six month appointment is next week.  I'm a couple lbs away from hitting my 100 lb lost mark.  I'm so excited.  I feel great and would like to lose another 30 lbs before this journey ends.  I think it's possible.

Hi Prettysoon!  Thanx for the reponse!  I began my 6 month supervised diet in September.  I agree that Dr. Wells is a considerate and professional individual.  Also, Dr. Z seems pretty friendly and I don't doubt that he's an experienced surgeon.  However, I am very interested in hearing your experiences with Summa.  Good luck with your appointment next week.  Let me know how it goes.  By the way, what was your beginning weight?  Its very interesting that you lost that much weight in such a short time...CONGRATS!  Do you have any problem with excess skin?  Thanx again...take care!
