Approved and got my date!
Yippee! I found out two weeks ago that I have been approved and got my date with Dr. Z for my RNY on December 2nd. I wanted to schedule it in December so I could be off work over the holiday but I am a little nervous that if it gets postponed, I will be into January and then have to start with a new deductable! Luckly, I only have to do two weeks of the optifast, but this means now Thanksgiving for me.
For the past two weeks, I haven't told anyone, not even my husband. I think I didn't believe it to be true. This has all happened with out a hitch and I'm just anticipating complications. I mean how could this process have been so easy. At least it has for me.
I did tell my boss this week, which did not go over very well. I am in HR so I know what my legal rights are, but I also know problems employers can put upon employees. I got the impression she felt this was not someting I have to do but rather a luxury. Her responce was, "Holy Crap, you will have your work done, right?" not, "Are you okay?" I even put this off so I can be off during a slow time, the last two weeks of the year most people are off work and their is vertually no productivity.

YAY!! Congrats!! I got approved by insurance yesterday and they told me on the phone today that I can't bring in my surgery fee till tomorrow and that I won't get my date until sometime next week!
This really sucks because I have to do SIX weeks of optifast and my work is already scheduling out 10-12 weeks in advance so I'm holding up the schedule because I still don't have a date!!! I'm glad that everything went so easy for you with the approval and everything! I had to do a six month supervised diet and now I've been waiting almost 2 weeks just to get a date! I'm really trying to be patient but work is going to kill me if I don't tell them soon (not to mention I'm also messing up the holiday schedule). Oh well. I'll hopefully find out soon enough.

Congrats on getting your approval! Just hang in there, and it will be here in no time at all, and you will be on the losers bench before you know it! Keep us posted as to when your date is!

Now to your boss it is really hard for anyone who hasn't walked in your shoes to understand what you are going through. That is what makes support groups and these boards so helpful. Some people just don't get it. You are right there should be concern about are you all right and is there anything we can do. Your health is important !

Congrats on your surgery date!! I just got my date for Dec 3 for rny. Being off during the holiday is a plus,, I not sure what i will be able to eat at christmas,, put I do have Thanksgiving.. Does everyone have to be on a liquid diet before surgery? I don't remember hearing the Doc say anything about that, I am having my egd on nov 16. I am interested in any and all info. Thanks and good luck yo all!!
