Need Feedback on Dr. John Maguire in Dayton Ohio

Hello Ohio Folks!

I was wondering if some people could give me some feedback on Dr. John Maguire of Dayton, Ohio.  He practices out of Miami Valley Hospital.

I was specifically wondering if anyone had surgery with another surgeon, and then turned to Dr. Maguire for a second opinion.  I had surgery back in August, and am very dissatisfied.  I have developed numerous complications including a surgical infection and now: MRSA.  I need another surgeon to have a look at me, as mine has been completely neglectful in her actions.

Thanks for any feedback, opinions, or experiences would be greatly helpful in choosing another surgeon for a second opinion.

Dr. Maguire is GREAT. He is one of the BEST. I had Dr Rita Hadley-Anderson but he was the second/asst when they were both in practice at Kettering. He left Kettering to head the WLS dept at MVH. If you are having trouble Dr. M is your GO TO GUY.  A lot of people go to him for revisions and fixes of what other docs have messed up.

Dr Maguire is reportedly one of the best (a number of poeple I know have used him and been very pleased), so from that standpoint you would be in very good hands.  Be aware, however, that surgeons are often very reluctant -- for potential liability reasons and/or out of fear of being dragged into a lawsuit against the first surgeon -- to see patients who are having trouble with their original surgeon.

Hi, Sharon. I'm so sorry that you've had such a bad run of it. :( I have heard many good things about Dr. Maguire and I hope that he can help you. You know you have my ear if you need it...we noobs have to stick together.

I may be biased but I think Dr. Maquire is excellent.  He was recommended as the best doctor in the area and I agree.  I also agree with what ****rogirl says about the liability.  My cousin had some issues with a surgery she had and she says he was the one who saved her life because os another doctors "screw up".  If someone will be able to help you, I think Dr. Maquire would be your best bet.

I had Dr Maguire do my surg.  I did have an issue with blood and had to get two units and also a reaction to medications  I was back at the ER because of the reaction he was right on the ball to get things back in order.  He even checked on me three times a day at the hospital.  His office staff is great and very helpful.  He answered all of my questions no matter how stupid they seemed.  I am very happy that I had him help me start my journey.  He has done many revisions also,  My husbands best friend had hers done by him she also is very pleased.
