I stumbled upon this obesity documentary and it is very informative. It doesn't put us down and tell us we're just lazy. It really sheds a lot of light on things and if anyone has a chance to check it out, please do and let me know what you think. It has a segment on the gastric band and the surgeon was obese at one time. This is a fat friendly video. LOL Enjoy.

Thank you so much for posting this link.  I have watched about half of it so far, and you're right.  Extremely informative.  I am hoping to have surgery in March, and I'm going to use this video as a tool when I talk with family and friends.

Thank you!

This documentary is wonderful. I cried when the woman read the reasons that she wanted weight loss surgery.  They are my reasons too. I think that I avoid thinking about how painful it is to be morbidly obese. It is so painful  to be out somewhere, suddenly feel someone looking at you with that smile. It isn;t a friendly smile.  It is the smile that says, "You are not a human to me. You are a symbol of laziness and lack of character. I feel it is okay to laugh at you even though, I know nothing about you.". That smile is worse than being slapped accross the face.

I know all too well what you mean. I just wish more people could watch this. Not just those struggling with weight, but everyone. Maybe they would get a glimpse of what we are going through and would stop being so cruel.
