Fresh Start Bariatrics and some insurance questions.

I am just getting started all this and I have a few questions about...lots of stuff.

I am going to my seminar tomorrow night.  What can I expect?  I am going alone because I do not have a babysitter and so my husband will have to stay home.

When I called my insurance, they said that they will cover the surgery if my BMI is greater than 40.  My BMI is 42.  Or, if it is between 35 and 40, they will cover the surgery with comorbities.

Even though it sounds cut and dry, do you think it will be?  I mean, if it says in my policy that it is covered with those conditions will be covered at 100% with a $200 copay.  It sounds so simple...but after reading so many people's battles with their insurance, I am nervous about what I am about to go up against.

So then I will schedule my all day visit.  What can I expect from that?  How long will I be there?  I know I have to be there at 7:30 am (wow!) but I was wondering if I will need someone to pick up my daughter from school.  (She gets out at 3)

Anything else anyone can tell me about the Fresh Start program?

Thanks in advance.

First off, Congrats on the start of your journey..I had my surgery with Fresh Start and Dr. Myers (1-10-07). I am too late to let you know about the seminar. I do 2 seminars a month with Dr. Myers (1 in Mansfield and 1 in Columbus) so I could recite the whole seminar to you.

Next, with reguards to your insurance, Fresh Start handled my insurance. I did not even have to call them. I too have heard the horror stories involving insurance company and was scared when they send it off for approval. I got a call the very next morning and was told I was approved. It is great that your insurance company will pay for the surgery 100%. You know by now about the $1500-2500 program fee. I had to pay $2550 but  2 months later I received a check back from Fresh Start for $730 that my insurance company paid on something that FSB was not sure they would pay. Now how many surgeons would refund ANY amount of money that the insurance company would send them. That alone spoke volumes.

I don't know if you have had your all day evaluation yet, but it really is all day. I got their at 7:30 and left about 4:00.

If you have any further questions, please give me a hollar

Paula
