help
Hi I live in Akron oh. And I really need some help. I have buckeye community health plan insurance, I have done my 6 months of supervised diet and exercise with my pcp, and now I just looking for a hospital that will take my insurance, beside Summa Health System Hospitals. They cost about 1800$ just for the weight loss classes, and I don’t have that much money, and I run in to this thing were they say the hospital has to be in network with my insurance. I don’t know what that mean; I just need some help please.
First IN NETWORK means that they have worked out a deal with your insurance and will discount their fees. If you go OUT OF NETWORK you will pay more.
Your best bet is to call your insurance and ask for a list of hospitals in the state that take your insurance. If you want to keep cost down you might have to drive a little if you don't want to pay the program fee. A lot of docs now charge this because insurance does not pay enough that is why they chage a program fee so they can help recop some of the cost.
Good Luck

I know Akron is a ways from Columbus, OH but Mt. Carmel's program only had a $300 program fee" as they call it for the overhead of the paperwork processing, etc. I think I maybe had a $100 application fee so maybe $400 to start might be an option if their doctors are In-Network for you. See if Dr. Patrician Choban, MD or Phillip Price, MD or Marcus Miller, MD are on your In-Network list. I highly recommend all three doctors.
