BOYCOTT THE CLEVELAND CLINIC

Many of you may have read or heard about the reprehensible remarks made by Dr. Delos Cosgrove, the Chief Executive Officer of the Cleveland Clinic.  I attach the links to the NY Times and Wall Street Journal where he states clearly his wish that he could legally NOT HIRE "fat people" and that he believes higher health insurance premiums ought to be paid based on BMI.  Cleveland Clinic is the 3rd largest employer in the State of Ohio (which is the 7th largest state in the nation).

I am urging everyone here to write a letter to Dr. Cosgrove condemning him for his words and demanding an apology.  Here is his contact information at Cleveland Clinic:

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus
Mail Code H-18
9500 Euclid Avenue
Cleveland, OH 44195

His comments are hateful and I urge ANYONE scheduled for surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, despite the excellence of their bariatric surgeons and related support, to CANCEL your procedures and find a provider who is not led by someone who would rather you be unemployed than working for his monolith instituion.  Read what he says and then decide:

Let your conscience guide you.  Good luck to all!

I totally understand what your saying. I worked for CCF in Cardio. Both my Dr and I were told about the weight! I asked the HR who was telling us about our "weight" problem if they handed out fast food coupons in the unemployment line? All while we were holding our "holiday" gift basket that CCF handed out to all employees. It was from peprige farms (sausage and cheese)ha ha!

Needless to say neither of us work for CCF.

Beond the weight, you get blood, drug tested for smoking and I was told on a daily basis that even in a polytail my hair was too long!

I did quit smoking but am still over weight and there is no way Im cutting my hair!

Good luck, the man owns cleveland!
