Can you tell me what the follow up care is like with Mid Ohi pSurgical Associates?

Can you get ahold of someone if you have a problem after hours / weekends?

Anything you want to share about any of the Dr.s?

Thanks

I had my RNY surgery with Dr. Choban on 5/11/09. The main reason I selected Mt Carmel was that I had a quadruple coronary bypass done there in 2005. I coded twice during that procedure and I wanted to make sure my surgeon had access to ALL of my medical records going in. Because of my previous history, Dr. Choban had Dr Price assist in the procedure to speed things along. My cardiologist thought that was an excellent precaution, even though he said my heart was in great shape for the surgery.

Dr Choban is probably one of the more experienced surgeons around. She was previously at OSU and now heads up the Bariatric Center at MCW. She also serves on an advisory  board for the National Institute of Health. I've had two follow-up appointments and both were very brief. I haven't had any complications, so there has been no need to contact a Dr after hours.

I had Dr. Price from MOSA at Mt. Carmel for my lapband surgery and was very satisfied with how everything went. Post op, I see Dr. Miller for my fill appts and he's been great too. I know several WLS friends from Mt. Carmel who have had all three surgeons and they all get very high marks. I also give high marks to Missy Webb our Mt. Carmel Bariatric Nurse Coordinator and Andrea our bariatric nutrition support group leader - so they have a total program to address your needs.

You also asked specifically about help after hours -- Yes, if you call the MOSA phone # and say you have an emergency and leave a phone # for the on-call doctor to call you back, they will call you. If you don't get a call back, go the Mt. Carmel West E.R. and ask to have the MOSA on-call paged by the E.R. if you need them.  Be sure if you give them a cell phone # or home phone # to call you back that you stay close to that phone. My friend was roaming around and her cell phone missed the call back from Dr. Price and he felt really bad that he didn't connect with her so he had someone at the office retry her at 8 am and all was fine by then. Her 'stuck' episode had passed and she was fine.
