Any Suggestions?
Hello to all.
I need to ask anyone out there for some advise. I had BCBS and had to go through a physician supervised diet program and also had to have just about every imaginable test ran for a pre requisite before submitting for my surgery. Well I was refused the VSG and I was appealed that decision and then lost my job and benefits. After three months I found another job and wanted to get back on track as to having my surgery. Well I have had the doctors office check and I also checked and the insurance company I have now (Aultcare) will not pay for any Bariatric surgery's. So here is where I need your suggestions. I have checked and my doctor will not accept a self pay patient for surgery. Does anyone out there know of a surgeon that is self pay (I'm in northern Ohio)? Also can you get loans for surgical procedures? I'm trying to come up with plan C since plans A & B didn't work. Please can anyone give me some advise or let me know how much this will cost me? I'm about to the end of my rope.....
Every policy is different it's upto the employer to pick and chose what they put in the policy. You need to call the hospitals in your area and find out who all the WLS docs are. Again I have never heard of a doc or hospital not taking self pay. There are many medical credit cards out there the hospitals should know abot them.
Good Luck,

Hi Ruby3901, I did have my procedure done at Wood County Hospital. I actually had a RNY and I am doing great! It was a good decision on my part. My surgery was on 11 May and I've lost almost 45 pounds. Wood County Hopsital has good service and Dr. Lalor is the best. I just got my insurance paperwork back and I believe the cost was approx $25,000. Go to a seminar and they explain all the costs and how to finance if that is a concern for you. Good luck with whatever procedure you go for!
I do know that Kettering Hospital has a financing program available for self pays with Dr. Rita Anderson. She won't do VSG, though (doesn't feel confident about long-term results), but does DS, RNY and band.
