I was banded and love my band.  Have done very well.  Now my husband is getting ready to do the same.  My question is this.  Which band did you chose, why did you chose it and is one really better than the other from a patients perspective.  If so why?
We moved and can't go to the same surgeon, his new surgeon insist on Realize Band over lapband.  what is the difference?  and do you feel we can insist on one over the other?
any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I think the Realize-C and the Lap Band AP are both excellent bands, we have seen equivalent outcomes between the two.  I personally have an Lap Band AP.  If you are getting a Realize, make sure you are getting the newer C version.  I think it's much improved.

Thank you for responding Dr C.  you are always so helpful.  But now I have to question and wonder about the realize band,  if an expert picks one over the other for himself.  I would think he is very much into the lapband more so than the realize band.
why wouldn't the doc do either or..do you give that choice to your patients?
my surgeon tells me that there is not really a difference to the patient.  I think this is a very confusing issue.  I know you have a realize band forum on here. so you support both.
I hate it that we have a decision...makes it hard.  lol
