Does anyone know of any support groups in Lorain County?

I am also a Dr. Schauer patient and I live right next to you in Litchfield, OH.  As far a I know, there is no local support group.  The nearest I am aware of is in Akron and is associated with Akron's program.  I am going to the Canton Support group and Teresa Black is our group leader.  Her phone number is 330.497.1467 and her email is [email protected].  She also has a profile on OH at www.obesityhelp.com/member/terrib

Hope all is going well for you.  Dr. Schauer is the best.  I have met my goal weight and have been keeping it off for over a year!   This surgery is a miracle!

I too am in Litchfield.  I have just started the process and getting all my required tests done.  I probably have a few more months to go before I have surgery.  I am going to University Hospitals , I have Dr Stillato.   Want to share any advice?

I would love to!  I live right on Martha Circle and can meet anytime for coffee!  How about the Hungry Bear?  Not the best site for low cal offerings but great for coffee! 

I have met my goal and have kept my weight off, although it hasn't been that long.  I had my surgery in Nov of 2007 and it has been the best thing I could have ever done for myself.  RNY is not without some challenges but if you are prepared, know what to expect and have realistic goals, it is not that hard.   It is definitely life changing!

I am from Elyria, and had my surgery at Parma Community General Hospital.  They have WLS support group meetings the first Monday of every month at 7pm.  It is open to anybody, not just "their" patients.  The address is 7300 State Rd, Room #27, in Parma.  It's easy to get to from I-480.  They really are a great group, and they try to present a different topic each month.  I searched all over to find a WLS support group in Lorain Co too, but had  NO luck :(

I also had Dr. Schauer as my surgeon. I know that there are support groups every week at CCF. If you find out any that are closer let me know.
