Akron Support Group Meeting - Wednesday February 25

Happy February! Our first Support Group of 2009 will be next Wednesday, February 25th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. We will meet in the meeting rooms in the basement of 55 Arch St. (the PODS). We now have a Support Group Planning Committee which is comprised of several volunteer patients. Your Committee Members are Susan Motts, Kathy Goss, Lisa Burwell and I. We have changed the format of the Support Groups. We will begin each meeting with self-introductions, but we would like those who are comfortable to share a short story, an exercise that is working for them, or a milestone in their life. We also would like to try spending the last 30 minutes of each meeting in separate bypass and lap band groups so members can discuss specific problems or issues. The Committee welcomes ideas for topics or speakers, or volunteers that would like to help with meetings or activities. Our speaker to start of the New Year will be the Bariatric Program Dietitian (me!) – I will be discussing Nutrition After Bariatric Surgery, with a focus on vitamins and minerals. Note: I will also be conducting the Nutrition Review group on Feb. 25th from 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm in the Bariatric Center conference room. This is a make up session due to the cancellation in January.
