New and need info

Hi!  I went to a meeting at University Hospitals a few weeks ago.  My doctors appointment is this week.   Has anyone had Dr Stellato?

What can I expect the wait to be, between appointment and the surgery date?  I had all my doctors fax over info and I am going to be scheduled for a colonoscopy this month.  I have done the diet and have lost 121 lbs on my own with my doctors help.  Will this be enough for the six month diet plan before surgery?  IT took me 5 years to lose the weight but I have kept all of it off except for 18 lbs.

Any info is really appreciated.

What kind of liquid supplements do you drink after surgery?  Do you get them from your doctor or buy them in the store?

Thanks

Mary

Well Mary I don't know that Doctor , but I just wanted to welcome you to the site.I had my surgery on Jan 7th of this yr, I Had Lap RNY at OSU hosp, I personally was lucky, I had started this journey about a yr ago and got all the way up to meeting the doctor and backed out, but I went back in sept of 08 and they accepted most of my previous paper work I only had to have some labs drawn and a new EKG done and I met my doctor a few wks after that. I choose to wait till after the new yr for my surgery so I would have the pd sick time off. I think your weight loss before surgey is great. I went to the local GNC at my mall and got some stuff to try, the dr will tell you what vit and stuff to take. I am only 5 wks out and have lost 32 pds so far. My advice to you is follow whatever your dr tells you to do, they know best. I am still in the trial and error phase LOL so days are great and others not so good but I am doing what they tell me and I make sure I keep hydrated well. This site has alot of info and support so look around on it ok and good luck in your journey!!
Well I finally have my date it is January 7th 2009, So I will be starting off in the new year with a new me.

Welcoe to the board MAry. I had my surgery 3 years ago at the Barix center in Groveport. My BMI today is 22! Every morning I still pu protein powder in my coffee, I hink it will be a life long thing. The best I have found is EAS whey powder, I get he vanilla in a bigbag at SAMS club..it's the best price and last for several months and you start out the day with 27g protein right of the bat...it's a good thing....it mixes well in any drink s long as it's not too hot, I sometime mix it with some milk before puttng it in my coffee.... Good luck on your journey...

Hi Pamela,

We don't have a Sams club or BJ's near us.  They are probably an hour drive.  I am looking around for the drinks and the powder.   How many times do you drink the powder a day?  Just as a meal replacement?

I still don't have a date but see my surgeon next week.  I am hoping for a quick date.  I have most of my records in order.

I am just confused on when you drink the powder, and is it better to have the whey.

If it is a lot cheaper at Sams club I might try and get a membership and buy it from there.

Thanks for answering my comment.  I really do appreciate it.

I think the whey has a better taste....easier to get down...and this EAS brand is the best whey I have found...at SAMs its a 5 pound bag, in the pharmacy part....23 g of protein a serving ..76 servings a bag...I take 1 a day now but post op you will need about 3 and probably 2 for up to a year...EAS also makes a low carb drink, Vanilla and Chocolate that are good, come in a  4 pack, I have gotton them  in the pharmacy section at wal mart and Krogers...they are 5-6 dollars a 4/pack where the powder is 35ish for 76..... keep n touch, I'm happy to help answere anything I can... this site helped me so much before my surgery

I looked on Sams website and it does not give any info about having it shipped. I saw that you can have other things shipped.  I wonder why?  I would join through email and have my stuff shipped it probably would be just as cheap as if I had to drive.

I am trying to look at BJ's.  We don't have Krogers here.  Maybe I can find it at walmart?

Thanks for all your help
