Feeling down just need to rant
It's ALWAYS COLD at work. Even the customers are starting to notice. I wear a turtle neck, a polo and a sweater and I'm still cold. My nose is always dripping because I'm cold.
My fingers are ALWAYS cold and we have ALL NEW $5's and $1's. That is SOOOOOOOOO hard to cound and seperate. We break down the 1's into bundles of $20 so it's easy for the cashiers to get change quicker.
New hires at work either calling off and NOT SHOWING UP or quiting or better yet quiting during their shift. I thought people really needed jobs and money. Hey I know it's not the best job but it's putting money in your pocket and a small store discount to boot at both KMart and Sears.
NO TIME OFF. Since all these people are quiting I have no days off. I'm working 40 hours again short shifts sometimes but it really breaks up your day and you can't get anything done at home . I am off Saturday BUT Elizabeth has a cheerleading competition so NO ME TIME. I really need me time during the holidays to de stress and relax from retail and all the stress.
No time to finish RANTING I need to hit the shower and get ready for work.
I thought of more while I was taking a shower
SHOPLIFTERS & MANAGEMENT. OK on Saturday I stopped a shoplifter. There is a customer that has done this before so I was watching her and I called security. LONG STORY and no time to go into details but it turned out she had over $400 worth of stuff she was going to leave with out paying for. Do you thing anyone from management said THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! NO how long does it take to say thanks. a nano second!!!!!!!!!!
ON THE UP SIDE I LOST 1/2pound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least I'm NOT STRESS EATING

Yes, you would think that people would be more conscientious about their jobs right before Christmas...
Here's hoping you get the much-needed time to relax a bit...

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I used to hate working the holidays.. people are so freakin nasty to retail workers. I on the other hand try to bend over backwards when I deal with retail folks. "take your time" "how you holding up" "no, I'll go grab another one for the price tag" "if walking my bags out to the car gets you a much needed break, then by all means come on"
This weekend I had to go back to Gamestop twice because 1. They forgot to put the games in the cases and 2. They forgot to give me my receipt back when I went to pick up the missing games. The sales folks appologized up and down and left and right.. I told them to chill out because I knew how busy they were.. I think they were even more scared because I was so cool and laxed with everything.
One thing I've noticed that puts a big smile on retail workers faces... telling them "Merry Christmas" I'm sure by now EVERY store prohibits their staff from saying "Merry Christmas" due to being politically correct. I say screw it... you're ass is buying a ton of gifts and making out with Christmas Bargains.. you're getting a Merry Christmas from me. If the clerks can't say it then I will... it opens the door to them saying it back.
ok nuff ranting from me.... stay sane Robin... only 3 more weeks of this madness (yeah less than 10 days till Christmas, but IMHO the days after Christmas are the WORST)
I know how it is to be cold all the time, that's how I am at home. Strangely enough, at work I have the opposite problem. Ho****er and steam supply pipes run just below the floor of my office so it's always like a sauna in here. It feels good when I first get here, but then after that I get soooooo sleepy. Wish I could send you some of this extra heat.
They may not have said thanks but I will: THANKS for catching the shoplifters! Good job, girl!

Hi Robin,
I remember the retail world well, and I have so much sympathy for you. I remember the holidays would bring out the nuts into the store it seemed like. Nice going on stopping the shop lifter...you should be proud!!! Staying warm is so hard for me too, I have actually started wearing long johns under my scrubs to work...crazy!! I used to always be hot at work, but not anymore. Hope you can find a little time on saturday for yourself to destress.. I totally understand how the holidays can be overwhelming.... I will be cooking christmas dinner at my apt for 10 people!!! I am starting to feel the pressure already!!
Happy Holidays
Caroline
