Dr. Maguire was my asst. when he was at Kettering, before he moved to MVH.  You would be in GREAT hands. He is one of the founders in WLS. He is one of the best in the Dayton area. very low complication rate and even lower death rate. He talks about the 2-3 he has lost over the past 25 years at his info meetings.
Good Luck,
Robin

I can't answer any questions about DS but Dr. Teel did my Lap Band - he's an excellent surgeon. A friend of mine had Dr. Maguire do her RNY and she sings his praises. They are a great team and I don 't think you can go wrong choosing either one.

Dr Teel was my DS surgeon.  I think he is GREAT!!!  Whenever I talk with others about him the common comment is that he is meticulous.  He does like to do the surgery via Lap, but mine was open due to my high BMI.  He is so good that I plan to have him take care of my hernia repair in a couple of months, if I can afford it I will have a TT done at the same time.

Dr Maguire is the area WLS guru.  At the last support meeting he said that he's done weight loss surgeries for about 30 years.  I believe that he will only do the DS open.

Have you gone to their seminar or attended a support group meeting?
I try to make it to them when I am in town.  Also, we have a pretty strong Miami Valley DS group (MVADSers) that gets together pretty regularly.

Have you been to any of their seminars?  I'm planning on going to Thursday nights.  I registered for it on line.  I'm going to Dr. Anderson's wednesday night.  I just need to be able to say I've seen all sides of the fence that way I dont ponder myself to death after surgery "Wonder what the others would have been like"

Dr. Teel assisted Dr. Anderson with my DS back when they worked together at Kettering.  Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them.  The only thing I've ever heard a complaint about is the  admin office staff there having a little bit of a god complex at times.  Never a complaint about any of the docs though.

I had Dr Teel do my DS and he was amazing!  He completed my surgury in 2 hrs and 10 min!  I have had minimal scarring at the 3 sites that he used and one of them you can not even see!  His after care is wonderful also!  I highly reccomend him to anyone!!!
