Vent/Rant/Loosing My Mind
I had my 2nd month follow up visit yesterday with my doctor (2 months down, 4 months to go)
Had a great weight loss affirmation yesterday... for the first time in 5 years I was able to use my PCP's scale because I am now under 450 lbs.
I get my 10 lb ribbon for Weigh****chers (13 lbs down)
I came across yet another RNY vs DS flame war post this morning and all hell broke loose in my head.
I'm so head strong on getting the RNY but there's this little voice in my head who is still screaming "Get the D/S!!! You can eat whatever the hell you want on it... you're going to fail after the first year with RNY and you're going to go back being lazy and eating what ever you want"
Sorry.. being totally blunt so someone on here can kick my ass.
Yes... I think I am a lazy person... or I seem to fall off the wagon easily. I need to get over this! I lost all my weight via white crosses 12 years ago, and then gained it back in about 3 years because I stopped smoking and stopped taking white crosses (aka mini-thins, broncaid, all those nasty meds that were pulled off the shelves because people like me abused them as a form of legal speed for weight loss)
I will say this much... In the past 2 months Ive totally reworked my eating habbits ( at first it was a ***** but now it's just habit) I've lost 13 pounds via dieting... so maybe I'm ok and I just needed to vent and type this out. I will say I was mildly disturbed after I told my mother last night that I lost 13 lbs via weigh****chers and she was so close to saying "you're still going to have the surgery" I could feel it through the phone lines... she was going to say it!
ok end or my rant, random thoughts, BS... thanks for bearing with me.. I'm sure there will be a few more in the next 4 months
Go ahead and rant, that's why we are all hear. To support and listen to one another. I too thought at first that I wanted and would have the DS, but knew that it wouldn't change my lifestyle enough, and I definitely needed the lifestyle change.
You are doing well with your preparations for RNY Keep up the good work andyour surgery will be here before you know it. You'll have a great head start and darn you guys, you loose so much quicker than we ladies that you will be at your goal in no time!

Vent Rant Ask we're here for you when you need us.
WAY TO GO for losing and being able to ust the reg scale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My advice is to keep researching and talk to people who have had BOTH WLS's.
Ask the good the bad and the UGLY of BOTH.
RNY you might dump. I still do at times even almost 5 years out. If I mess up my pouch lets me know it.
As for DS my insurance would have paid for it also. I researched and ask my doc and AT THAT TIME I was told that BP/DS was for someone with BMI over 50..... BUT There have been a lot of RNY'er with BMI's over 50 and are A SUCCESS.
You just have to do a lot of research and sole searching to find the RIGHT WLS FOR YOU.
NOW for another bit of advice stay with me on this one.......... Come over to the light weights board and you can ask about RNY/DS/or any other WLS and so far NO FLAMING or WARS. There are all kinds over there and so far we can all get along. You might get some more straing answers. Now i've gone on for to long. Keep up the GREAT WORK, Robin
