Hi, I live in Columbus and recently have gained about 30 lbs. I will feel full briefly, but then it's like glub and i am hungry all over again. i think i may have mechanical difficulties, such as astretched stoma. I had my surgery done at Barix and they are not helpful or willing to investigate it at all. In fact Dr. RAmos said to me tretching of teh stoma is normal and you just have to learn to control your diet. NOT HELPFUL, i failed before that is why i was 326lbs, so obviously i need help. I am looking for anothet Dr in ohio or close. Anyone had this dillma? Any suggestions? MAny thanks.

Peace and Blessings, Melinda

You might want to look into the new STOMAPHY X I don't know who in Ohio is doing it and I don't know how well it will work but its something you might want to look into.

Actually you have a leader in this field right in your own city - Dr. Dean Mikami at OSU.  Give him a call.

Thank you Dr. Curry, I had called Dr. Mikami, but unfortunately insurance does not cover the stomaphyx. I was hoping that if i had an upper GI and it is found my stoma is stretched that perhaps they could get insurance coverage to pay for a repair, not truly a stomaphyx procedure. Is this something you do as well? Do you take United health care and have you had any experience with getting them to pay for repairs? You get rave reviews on this site and i would be happy to travel to see. OSU is very difficult to get into.

Thanks

Hi!  About your stretched stoma question..
I just had my RNY 3 weeks ago, was given the option to have a latex band at the stoma area if I wanted to- to control that stretching.  My doctor does do that-Dr John Maguire in Dayton at Miami Valley Hospital.
Hope this helps!
