BBQ Madness

This weekend I was invited to a BBQ.  I was ready to go!
I saved all my flex points for the week and I went in with a strong will.

I sat myself next to the veggie platter and I was really good... for about 20 minutes.

I just got done adding up all my points and surprisingly enough I had 12 points to spare

BUT

What am I going to do post op???  I thought I went in with such a strong will and I really gave in.  Heck I even had ice cream and pie :-(

What do you y'all do post op when you're confronted with this?  I'm not going to become a hermit.

I guess I want to know what I need to do to prepare myself so I can become a stronger person... because there is no way I'm going to put myself through this life altering surgery only to "give in" to a BBQ :-(

You didn't say what type of WLS you are having but you will still be able to eat almost anything and everything WITHIN REASON as a post op.
You will be happy with just a bite or two of this and that. Instead of having a whole serving spoon full of something you will be happy with just a teaspoon bite of it.  I go to church carry in and other functions just fine. You will also once you are a little farther out. Heck I even have a bite or two of cake and ice cream just not the whole piece or scoop.

Good Luck,
Robin

Honey I am one month out of RNY today. I just went to a BBQ. I ate just a bite of what I wanted. In my family we have alot of diebtics, so we make ice cream with splenda, so I had one bite of it.

I did not eat much, but I could have wht I wanted.

had my first weigh in last night... 7 pounds lost!   (omg does this mean Im not a candidate for WLS?  I can loose 7 lbs on my own?   seriously.. I had a few people tell me this.    )
I just remind them that the bulk of my WW class are people who use to be on WW before...

so BBQ or not.. the carrots paid off ;)

you can still have surgery if you can lose weight on your own, they will not turn you down because of that in fact most insurance companies will make you do a 6 month thing with a dietician to show you can commit and lose weight before the surgery. You can eat normal food after the surgery you just have to becareful if you eat to much or something your not supposed to (like a ton of sweets) you will pay for it and get very sick. this is a life change ad you will have to be ok with eating small amounts and not eating sugars forever if you arent ok with that you may want to look into the band something that can be reversed. i wish you the best of luck in your choice

How are you feeling Robyn??
There was a great turn out last night at the Kettering Meeting.  I didn't leave the parking lot until around 9:30.

I am getting better one day at a time, slowly but surely.  My incision isn't hurting so much now as it is uncomfortable.

I am glad to hear you made it to the Kettering meeting last night.  I plan to be there next month.
